Criminal History
In 2019, Niemela entered a bar/restaurant, already intoxicated, and yelled racial slurs. โWhen asked to leave, Ms. Niemelaโs behavior escalated.โ The bar/restaurantโs owner forced her outside and locked the establishmentโs door to prevent Niemela from re-entering. In the process, Niemela pushed another individual. Police arrested Niemela and charged her with disorderly conduct, to which she later pleaded guilty. Niemelaโs then-fiancรฉe, who arrived on scene after police, reported that Niemela โis aggressive when she is intoxicated . . . frequently causes issues [at that same bar/restaurant and] . . . has a problem with authority.โ
In 2012, police charged Niemela with simple assault after she and a group of women got into an argument with another woman at a club, followed up later that night by walking to the womanโs house, and confronted her. There, outside the womanโs house, Niemela assaulted the victim while another woman restrained the victimโs hands and arms. Police observed that the victim was bleeding from her nose and mouth when they arrived on scene. The case was later dismissed for lack of prosecution.
Niemela was arrested again for violent behavior in May 2021 after trying to fight security personnel at a hospital. Niemela, who appeared to be intoxicated, entered the hospital and provided names of two different patients she was there to see; neither was on the hospitalโs patient list. When hospital staff informed Niemela that she needed to put on a mask, โshe became belligerent and shouted vulgaritiesโ but eventually complied. Niemelaโs temper reignited when hospital staff asked her if she knew where she was going. Niemela launched into a torrent of profanity and a tirade โabout the effectiveness of masks and vaccines.โ Hospital security eventually had to remove Niemela from the building and restrain her until police arrived. Ultimately, the case was resolved by being โplaced on file without finding and good behavior for one year.โ
